I always smile when somebody is telling how great their bike is and somebody else comes up to them and say, Ah, no, a friend of mine had one and it was such a pocket-drainer you won't believe it..!
The Savage is a very good quality bike, just as good as any other Japanese today. Not better, not worse. If you have bad luck when you get yourself a bike, that is a pity ! Any bike can be destroyed because of bad handling. If I were you, I'd tell the people on this list in what town I live, and ask them to tell me the name of a wellknown Savage-expert living nearby. I'd take my bike to him and let him take an over-all look at the bike, and have him tell me what he found, and how much he would charge to fix everything.
When he's done with the bike I think you could ride and enjoy for many, many miles...as long as you remeber to take care of the details like belt-tension and change of oil and such.
Give the Savage at least a proper chance !
